South Hills Financial Group was created in 1982 by Karen and Leo Dalzotto.   In the early years, the company specialized in life and disability insurance.   In the mid-’80s, Karen and Leo recognized the evolution by the insurance industry towards financial services.   Both of them became licensed to sell securities, and South Hills Financial Group began offering mutual fund investments in addition to insurance products.

In 1995 their son Richard finished his education at Penn State University and joined South Hills Financial Group.  Rich quickly became licensed to provide insurance products and mutual funds to clients.   As he learned the business from Karen and Leo, he realized that the evolution that Karen and Leo had recognized years ago was continuing.  So Rich became licensed to sell all investment securities, including individual stocks and bonds.   Rich then became educated in comprehensive planning for clients looking to plan for retirement.  By the year 2000, South Hills Financial Group had grown from an insurance agency to a full-service financial services firm.

Today Rich continues to keep South Hills Financial Group at the forefront of the financial services industry through his education and technology within the company.   Karen and Leo are enjoying semi-retirement but continue to spend some time in the office to visit with long term clients of the company.
